Kia Graves began her acting career at the age of six when she made her theatrical debut as Molly in the Florida regional musical theatre production
of Annie. Shortly thereafter, Kia was playing Molly in Michigan and Wisconsin as well
as Gretel in The Sound of Music. At eight years old, Kia and her family moved to NYC to pursue acting. She began singing
with the Metropolitan Opera Childrens Chorus at the age of nine and made her Met solo operatic debut in Werther.
Kia continued doing musical theatre in NYC and graduated to the role of Brigitta in Lincoln Centers
(NYST) production of The Sound of Music as well as the international
tour, both directed by James Hammerstein, II.
Theatre
has always been a strong passion of Kias and NYC provided an excellent opportunity for her. While attending The School of
Performing Arts, Kia was able to perform in several off-Broadway productions including Ensemble Studio Theatres (one-act-play-marathon)
The Shallow End, where she originated the role of Addie. Kia made her Broadway debut in Tony Randalls National Actors
Theatre production of A Little Hotel on the Side, directed by Tom Moore. She also understudied the role of Clara
in the original Arthur Miller production of Danger:Memory! at Lincoln Center (Mitzi E. Newhouse), directed by Gregory Mosher.
Kia
studied acting at New York Universitys Tisch (Practical Aesthetics Workshop) while working on NBCs Law&Order (Principal)
and Saturday Night Live. She also spent time studying at the Moscow Art Theatre/Winter Drama Program. Other credits
include: Featured comedic actress on National Lampoons M-TV 10th Anniversary Special (M-TV/Comedy Central),
Regarding Henry directed by Mike Nichols (Paramount Pictures), as well as numerous on-camera principals for
network and regional commercials and voice-overs since the age of nine. Kia graduated from Hunter College with
a B.A. in Communications.
